VINTAGE CIRCA 1970s - 1980s ERA, SOLID STERLING SILVER 925, MODEL / PATTERN # 87 / 9 H. LARGE 10" TALL x 9" WIDE, TROPHY / AWARD STYLE WATER PITCHER MADE BY REED & BARTON, TAUNTON, MA USA VERY HEAVY AT A TOTAL WEIGHT OF 1008.1 GRAMS OR 32.41 TROY OUNCES, IT IS SOLID STERLING SILVER, NOT HOLLOW OR WEIGHTED IT IS ENGRAVED ON BOTH SIDES, HAVING BEEN GIVEN AS A CORPORATE AWARD TO A DIRECTOR OF BELL TELEPHONE LABORATORIES IN THE LATE 1980s. As stated above, it is personally engraved on both sides of it, one side reading TO PAUL R. BRXXXXX DIRECTOR BELL TELEPHONE LABORATORIES, along with 8 cursive faux signatures of what must be this persons fellow employees. On the opposite side, it reads TEAM - 1988 STEVE GREG - 1989 STEVE GREG INDIVIDUAL FRED STEVE, and was more than likely to be intended to continue these awards in the following years. These engravings are not that deep, and should be a non-issue for a professional to file, buff and polish these out. It has nice shine as it is, is straight, not bent out of shape, with no major issues at all. It is clearly marked on the bottom REED & BARTON STERLING, along with what may be a model / pattern number of 87 9 H.

Due to the date engravings on the side of 1988 & 1989, I make the educated guess this piece must date to the 1970s - 1980s era. This is an amazing piece in person and would be a wonderful addition to anyone's collection of fine silver, silver made by Reed & Barton, and would be a very unique crossover collectible for those into telephone communications memorabilia! As I state above, it should be very easy for a professional to remove the engravings so you could display it clean or re-engrave for someone else! A fantastic investment in silver bullion, too! Would make a great gift idea for that special someone you know, too!
