Sebastian & James Crespell English Sterling Water/Wine Jug circa 1774 London

  
A fine example of a sterling silver water or wine jug with exquisite foliate and scrollwork repousse, acanthus bud finial, wooden handle, on a round foliate foot. Hallmarked by the London silversmith Sebastian & James Crespell on the hinged lid and just under the lip, circa 1774. Very good overall condition, with minor surface scratches, rubs, and light wear commensurate with age and use.

Dimensions: Approximately 10 ½" H x 7" W (at handle). A local family business since 1983.
