Rare Old French GREEN GLAZEd WATER PITCHER " Plongeon" Gargoulette Pottery Provence Around 1850/1900 So charming french old water pitcher, circa 1900, from south of France, used in farms for serve the water. A green glaze (The photo doesn't do it justice, the green is darker in reality), authentic pottery very gracefull with double handles. These are placed perpendicularly to ensure a good grip when the jug was immersed in water to fill it. This is where their nickname "PLONGEON" comes from.
I love this very potbellied shape! All the charm of being made by hand. Condition: It is in a very nice condition, some chips, see photos. It can still be put to use or for décorationor just displayed to lend a fantastic "provincial" touch to your décor! Size: 12"20 tall (31 cm), handle to the spout: 10"25 (26 cm).Base diameter: 470 (12 cm) Today, this piece would make a decorative piece, or would be a good start or continuation to a jar collection or to use of course....
