Incredibly beautiful and very rare antique Gorham sterling silver water pitcher. The pitcher pays tribute to the Mythological god of the sea, Neptune. The spout is adorned with the crowned and bearded head of Neptune in heavy repousse. There are large sections of floral and scroll repousse around the head, sides and back of the pitcher, and repousse scroll like waves and flowers around the base of the piece.

The handle has a lovely shape that seems to mimic the crest of a wave. The overall design and shape evokes the feeling of water in motion. The pitcher measures 10 1/2" tall, 8 1/4" across the lip and handle, and weighs a heavy 32 troy ounces.
