LARGE Antique VICTORIAN Sterling Silver Water Jug Robert HENNELL III London 1844

  
For sale is this exquisite early Victorian water jug made by the celebrated London silversmith, Robert Hennell III in 1844. I suppose you could call it Renaissance Revival style. It has a heavily chased and beaded border, as well as 4 circular escutcheons, three of which are engraved. It is a heavy jug standing about 9 inches tall and measuring about 5 1/4 inches in diameter at the bottom of the base. On the underside is engraved a retailer's name, that of D. So the jug may well have a Scottish connection. It weighs an impressive 762 grams or 24 1/2 troy ounces of silver. It is in very good condition with no dents or breaks.
