A very large, impressive and decorative Victorian silver beer jug with eye catching embossed decoration. It would also make a wonderful water jug.

It is of a very high quality and the Bacchus mask to the spout is superb. There is a skilfully engraved crest of a unicorn to the cartouche.

Fully hallmarked for 1863 London. Makers mark of Robert Harper. It is in an excellent condition with no damage or repairs.

The decoration is still remarkably sharp and eye catching. The hinge is in good order. The gilding to the inside is still bright and even.

Some very light surface wear in places, it really has been well looked after. 29.5cm height to the top of the finial. 23cm width including the handle and spout. 1118 grams or 35.95 Troy Oz. 3 pint or 1.7 litre.
