FRENCH RELIGIOUS STERLING SILVER HOLY COMMUNION WINE WATER JUG c1880

  
A beautiful rare French solid sterling silver holy communion wine or water jug. It is hallmarked with the French 950 standard Minera head mark, a Boers head touch mark and a makers mark J&C.

I would date it to c1880. It has been beautifully designed and is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs, it may have had a stopper? 4.75 inches (12cm) tall to the top of the handle by 3.5 inches (8.8cm) across handle to lip by 2.25 inches (5.6cm) across the base and weighs 104 grams. A very good quality well made rare piece.
