Up for your Consideration is this 1854 James Stimpson Victorian Silver Plate Ice Water Pitcher with a Fascinating Ornate Design. Originally patented in 1854, there are 3 different patent dates on this piece, which are 1854, 1868 & 1872, so I would date this circa 1872. There is a place for monogramming on this piece, but it was never monogrammed.

A Little Information on James Stimpson and this Pitcher. Stimpson was one of several inventors who put a lot of effort towards developing an effective pitcher for ice water. Before electricity, ice water was a real luxury. Stimpson's patent involved the use of a triple wall, but without today's technology, probably didn't work too well. James Stimpson assigned the patent to Meriden Britannia Company, which is one of the largest silverplate manufacturers in the country.

This Ice Water Pitcher measures approximately 15 1/4" tall x 11 1/2" wide x 6 deep. It's in Nice Antique Condition! There is tarnishing and scratches, but no dents to speak of. Please See ALL Photos, as they are part of the Description.
