C1820s Rare Large English Staffordshire Pink Lustre Water or Milk Pitcher Jug

  

Presented is a beautiful antique English pink lustre pitcher or jug, dating to around the 1820s. This is a lovely piece of Staffordshire pottery in a very classical high shouldered form. The sides are wonderfully hand painted with richly detailed farmland scenes, tall trees, ruins, and a gate in the foreground with farm buildings and copses in the background, all in shades of lovely iridescent pink.

This is a large size jug, with a capacity of approximately 10 cups (80 fluid ounces/2.4 liters). This pitcher is in excellent overall condition, particularly considering age and material. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. Some minor wear to the painted decoration, as is very typical with this type of ware. Very minor crazing to the glaze here and there, including one spot on the underside where the crazing has darkened a bit, but there is no sign of any lines on the interior, so this is not a hairline/crack going all the way through.
