Antique Wedgwood Blue DIp Jasperware PORTLAND VASE Water Pitcher/Jug

  

Description : A fine Wedgwood jug in cobalt blue dip jasper ware with white sprigged relief. In the Portland Vase shape with the Portland Vase decoration. Produced about 1880, pitchers in this form with this decoration, of this size are quite uncommon. Provenance: Karp Collection, Bonhams Skinner, Fine English Ceramics Featuring Wedgwood, October 7, 2024, Lot 162.

Size : 7.675" tall, 5.75" from handle to spout, 5.5 diameter at widest point. Mark : Impressed "WEDGWOOD" and "V" marks on bottom.

Condition : slight wear, commensurate with age and use; firing crack along bottom edge of groundline of sprigged decoration where it follows the join between the body of the vessel and the foot, usual firing lines and fine cracks in white sprigged decoration, otherwise fine.
