It is decorated with flowers, fruit and Chinoiserie decoration in wonderful rich colors with a gentle luster finish. The exact same jug as an example of Scottish pottery I found several years ago in the online museum South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture LTD. Bell's Pottery was established by the Bell brothers in 1841, beside the Forth and Clyde Canal in Glasgo.
They made transfer-printed white earthenware but soon expanded into china and parianware. Bell's produced a vast range of transfer printed china which became extremely popular with middle class families from the West of Scotland. Made in Scotland between 1841 to 1880. Measurements: 22 cm (8 11/16) tall.
There is some crazing, light discoloration in spots and a small chip to one side base, but otherwise, this is in super condition for its age. Please look at the photos closely to see the quality and condition as they are part of the description. Comes from a smoke and pet's free home.
