This beautiful antique lined ice and water pitcher was patented in 1868 and contains the patent seal that is affixed to the bottom of the picture as well as the date that the pitcher was patented. Made by the Meriden B. Company in Connecticut in the late 1800s, it is in excellent condition with most of the silver plating worn off through years of use.
What makes this picture unique is the porcelain lining that insulates the beverage that is put inside, that was needed prior to refrigeration equipment. The handwork is incredible and one can only ponder who use this piece through the many years of its existence.
