American Victorian SP Tilting Ice Water Pitcher On Frame -Wilcox Silver Plate Co

  

This amazing American Victorian tilting ice water jug was made by the Wilcox Silver Plate Company of Meriden, Connecticut c. It features lavish Victorian decoration including repousse cherries, leaves and branches. Additionally it has bands of glorious floral decoration and a pierced handle decorated with leaves and berries. The same incredible decoration is carried over to the frame (which also includes griffins, birds and a butterfly), cup and undertray of the piece. The great thing about this piece is the amazingly fine condition of the plating on all surfaces (including the interior of the pitcher).

As is typical with these pieces the pitcher is double sided to keep the water cooler and to prevent sweating on the exterior of the vessel. This piece could be immediately put into service! The entire piece is 20.75 inches tall and the base is 9 wide and weighs a massive 11 lbs.

The piece (which includes the main vessel, the frame, the removable underplate and the ensuite cup) is in excellent condition with some wear to the interior plating of the cup (possibly just tarnish). What might appear as dents in the sides of the main vessel are actually areas of repousse fruit and leaves. It has no dents, scratches, cracks or other imperfections.
