Fantastic intricately detailed ewer water pitcher from Persia, circa late 19th century. The three engraved characters with staffs represent the Frieze of the Immortals from the time of Darius the 1st. The other engravings reflect daily life of the region at that time.
The handle itself is a beautiful piece of workmanship. This stunning piece was a gift to my grandparents who lived in Persia when my grandfather, who was an engineer, worked for the Shah. The ewer embodies Middle Eastern design and is categorized as an Islamic antique. A fabulous find in excellent antique condition. 11"H x 9"W.
