Vtg 1890s Prattware & Pewter Pottery Turquoise Sea Shells Ale Water Jug Pitcher
Vintage 1890s Prattware & Pewter Pottery Turquoise Sea Shells Ale Water Jug Pitcher Although unmarked except for the pattern numbers on its base, variations on this Victorian pattern of seashells were produced by several different Staffordshire potteries from the 1860s to the early 1890s. This beautiful pitcher features a rich, deep turquoise glaze with detailed images of seashells, seaweed and coral sprayed across each side, with the handle and base trimmed in yellow glaze. It still has its original pewter lid, which is in good condition, there is some small manufacturers marks in places, mainly to base. The base is has the numbers'3' and'8287' written into the glaze. Especially beloved, the Pratt Jugs, or pitchers in the shell design are avidly collected.
