A mammoth sterling water pitcher, by Galt & Bro, Washington DC. C. 1900
Here is a majestic sterling pitcher, by Galt & Brother, Washington DC, c. 1900 Originally established in 1802, the firm rose to become the premier silversmiths of Washington DC. It was patronised by the likes of Presidents Lincoln and Davis.
It is engraved all over with very fine and detailed floral decoration. In the front is a large vacant cartouche. It was never inscribed or monogrammed. It is in very good condition.
